7 Amazing Benefits of Having a Pinterest Business Account
When you hear “Pinterest” - what comes to mind? If you’re like many entrepreneurs and content creators - you’re thinking Pinterest is just for DIY mommy bloggers and collecting easy dinner ideas.
I hate to break it to you (actually, I really love breaking it to you) - but you’re wrong.
In fact, you couldn’t be further from the truth. More than 75% of saved pins come from businesses. And with over 415 million users now on the platform - that’s a lot of website traffic, email subscribers, and leads to generate.
In this post, I’ll show you 7 amazing benefits of having a Pinterest business account. You’ll discover why you should have a Pinterest business account, the differences between a Pinterest business account and a personal account, and how to set up a business account or convert your personal account to a business account.
Why A Pinterest Business Account
1. It’s Free
One of the best parts about having a Pinterest business account is that it is absolutely free. It doesn’t cost anything to get the benefits of a Pinterest business account.
2. Increase Brand Awareness
There are some really great features that you get with a Pinterest business account to help increase brand awareness. Features like a fully customizable header image and a bold profile to display your business name.
3. Pinterest Analytics
One of the main benefits of a Pinterest business account is the access to the amazingly detailed analytics tool. As a Pinterest Business account holder, you get access to what is called the ‘business hub’ - an in-depth feature giving you a deep dive into your analytics.
With a personal account you’ll be able to measure basic engagement, but with a Pinterest business account you’ll get a close up look at an abundance of data about your pins' performance.
4. Rich Pins
Rich pins are an organic pin that automatically syncs information with your pins from your website. The great part about Rich pins is that they automatically update if a change is made from your website.
There are three types of rich pins available to Pinterest business account holders:
Product Rich Pins - Includes updated information about pricing, availability and product details.
Recipe Rich Pins - Includes details like serving size, cook time, diet preferences, and a list of ingredients
Article Rich Pins - Include headline/title, description, and author
5. Promoted Pins & Ads
You get access to promoted pins and ads with a Pinterest business account. While I always recommend doing the work to build a solid Pinterest foundation first, there have been many accounts who have benefitted from running Pinterest ads.
6. Audience Insights
Audience insights give you a detailed look at your audience. With audience insights you can get a detailed breakdown of your audience demographics and create more targeted content with the data.
7. Story Pins
A majority of Pinterest business account holders now have access to story pins and they are proving to be a very successful tool. Story pins are similar to Instagram stories, where users can view story pins at the top of their smart feed and they’re short snippets of images/videos used to tell a story.
How to set up your pinterest business account
You have three options for setting up your Pinterest business account.
Add a business account under your personal Pinterest account
Convert your personal account to a Pinterest business account
Create a completely new Pinterest business account.
I DO NOT recommend adding a business account under your current personal account. The main reason is that it tends to get complicated when you’ve got a business account filed under a personal account. I’ve found it much easier to keep it simple and just open a completely separate account.
Convert Your Personal Pinterest Profile to a Business Account
If you’d like to convert your existing Pinterest account to a business account, follow the steps below:
1. Head to pinterest.com and log into your personal account.
2. Select the down arrow in the upper right corner of your screen to open the menu.
3. Select settings.
4. On the left side of the window select “account settings”
5. Scroll down to Account Changes and select “Convert to business account”
6. Follow the prompts from there to get your Pinterest business account set up
Sometimes there is a prompt to convert your account to a Pinterest business account. When that is the case you will see a “Pinterest for Business” section after logging in. There you will see a big red button prompting you to convert your personal account to a business account.
Create a New Pinterest Business Account
If you would prefer to create a completely separate account for your business account, follow the steps below:
1. Head to pinterest.com and click “sign up”
2. Select “create a business account”
3. From here you’ll be prompted to complete the necessary information to set up a business account.
